The
weakest point in the design is the front axle mount. A hard hit
to the front tire once popped the left side front axle mount
loose from the chassis.

The two holes in the body are oversize to the pin tubing and the
rear of the body rests on the piece of styrene rod behind the
crown gear. To mount the body on the chassis it’s only
necessary to slip one side of the body over the pin tubing and
spread it out to fit over the opposite end. Gordon located the
headers to conceal the holes in the body He reports that the
body mounting is quite secure.

The large chunk of lead visible under the hood of the car is
not normally there but before Gordon took the photos he had been
drag racing the car and needed to hold the front end down. The
screen over the windows is pieces of wire hot glued over the
window openings. The interior is a piece of heavy card stock
with a driver scavenged from the “junk yard”.
He’s happy with the way the car handles on his club’s wood
tracks. He says he’s not a big fan of traction magnets and built
the car strictly for the fun of it.
