The bent hanger should fit snugly enough inside the body to hold
it securely without bowing the body sides outward. This makes
it easy to hold the body for painting while keeping paint off
your hands. It also lets you hang the body from overhead to dry
or stand it in a secure location by wedging the other end of the
hanger securely into any opportune place. Wash the body
thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Rinse completely and allow
to dry on the hanger. The body is now ready to paint.
Mask the chassis as shown at left below.

Prime the body and the front and rear portions of the chassis
with one or two coats of flat white primer and allow to dry
thoroughly. Wet-sand the primer with 600 grit sandpaper. Be
sure not to sand through the primer. If you do, touch up the
area with more white primer and sand it again. Spray the orange
onto the body and the front and rear portions of the chassis in
several light coats with airbrush or spray can. Make sure you
cover all the edges and recessed areas When the final coat has
dried completely wet-sand any orange peel or dust specks with
600-grit sandpaper. Make sure the orange color is uniform and
covers the white primer completely. Touch up as necessary.
When the orange is completely dry give the body and the painted
parts of the chassis a couple coats of Testor Glosscote. The
Glosscote dries very rapidly so you can apply coats of it about
a half-hour apart. At this point you can remove the masking
tape from the chassis and reassemble it. It should come out
looking like the right-hand photo above. When reinstalling the
motor the white lead wire goes on the right side and the black
one on the left.
